A couple notes on CPR : first, you don’t use it to clear lungs of water, only to restart a stopped heart. It’s a pretty traumatic act that can result in cracked ribs if done wrong, and has only around 50% chance of actually reviving the victim if done right. It’s a good thing Marianne and Zach have enhanced constitution, or else they would require a trip to the nearest hospital.
Secondly, Joshua is completely honest in the last panel. Trying to perform CPR through clothes increases the chance of failing and is pretty abrasive for the skin. While drawing Marianne with a missing fur patch between the breasts would have been funny, I decided to go the realistic route. Exposed boobies are just an extra perk :p

That’s actually some of some of the best work I think you’ve done with Marianne, and I don’t just mean because she’s half-nude. The line-work on her face and hair, the definition of her collar bones, and the tendons in her neck, in both panels, really is catching my eye. Good work!

As opposed to many medical myths, researchers have reliable data concerning the success rates of CPR (without the use of automatic defibrillators) in a variety of settings:
2% to 30% effectiveness when administered outside of the hospital
6% to 15% for hospitalized patients
Less than 5% for elderly victims with multiple medical problems
As for Marianne, even soaked and barely conscious, she is rawr good looking. Josh had better control his voice better or Marianne may be forced to consider the fact that he likes her not just her body and have to consider her own feeling about him.
Not likely; in both of the “Ask the Casts,” Marianne and Joshua claim to despise each other. And we all know that when a couple claim to hate each other, there’s no chance of them ever getting together, right?

No Joshua can’t just use his telecanises(?) To get all their stuff out of the water, or atleast not yet
For starters his abilities are limited to smallish objects at close range or where last we saw
And secondly I think he would be unable to concentrate enough to get their gear put of the water at the moment (probably due to a half naked cat and a near death experience)

I was going to quote that but Antonious already beat me to that. His percentages are accurate if not a little high. The 2% success rate is pretty much accurate.
If you are in fact doing CPR to restart a stopped heart you’re pretty much just buying time for the victim by helping to circulate blood through the body till medical staff can arrive.
An AED won’t shock a heart that is “Asystole” or what would basically be described as a heart that has stopped beating. It can only correct “Ventricular Fibrillation” which is an irregular heartbeat or more commonly referred to as a heart attack. If the heart has completely stopped (EXCEPT in the case of ELECTROCUTION) there isn’t much hope of saving the person unless you can get them immediately to a clinical setting. Electrocution is a completely different matter.
However….needless to say as a first aider…doing SOMETHING is better then doing nothing. As far as preserving life goes any little bit helps.
